The
goal of Nine10Arts (www.910arts.org)
is to provide a live/ work community
for emerging artists to develop their
work. This creative and affordable
environment near Downtown Denver brings
art into the every day lives of the
community. Spector and Associates
is the owner, architect and developer
on this project.
The
following elements work together to
make Nine10Arts a sustainable project:
Green
Building:
Managed
construction waste.
Installed
energy efficient systems and fixtures.
Renovated
existing structures, salvaged building
materials, and incorporated recycled
and natural products.
Reducted
health hazards, waste and airborne
pollution through use of materials
that contain, and methods that produce
low toxicity.
Affordability:
Passed
along low constuction costs to artist
tenants.
Restricted
a portion of the loft residences
to tenants earning 55% of Denver's
mean income or less.
Optimized
energy efficiency through use of
long lasting, durable materials
that decrease the on-going cost
of maintaining the building.
Community
Oriented:
Created
a mixed-use community with artist
lofts, work studios, coffee shop
and gallery.
Helped
revitalize a blighted neighborhood.
Involved
community organizations in construction,
events, workshops and fundraisers.
Encourged
visitors to engage with artists
through open studio format.
Innovation:

a project unique to the Denver area.
Used non-traditional
